Backing Up Your Records and Data |
We have included an "Auto-Backup" for your records that will automatically write your records to floppy disk. If the records from your operation will not fit on a single floppy disk, (about 8-9 workers) then you must backup your files manually. Instructions for that are directly below.
We encourage you to make backups of your records, at whatever time you have made significant changes to them. It is an easy process, and in most cases will only require a single floppy disk to store the information. Of course the backup can be made on whatever external memory medium you might choose.
It will also be helpful for you to have a printout of your electronic safety program, for use at times of inspection, or for your own use at locations where your computer is not available. Click on the link below to bring up the print-out procedure.
Backing up Your Safety Program Manually
There are only four items that you need to create backup files for. They are all found by going to "My Computer", right click and choose explore, then click on "C" drive, then on "Program Files", then on "SafeForge". That puts you into the folder for this program.
In that folder, you will find the sub-directories that make the program run. From this list you need to first copy two complete sub-folders. These folders contain all the records that you have created. They are named, "emp_recs" and "Othrecs". To copy them to your storage media drives, have the contents of your SafeForge folder in the right hand panel of Explorer, and in the left hand panel, scroll to find your floppy ("A") drive, (or whatever storage media drive you have chosen).
Now simply right click and drag the folder called "emp_recs" from the right hand panel to the left hand panel and drop into the icon for whatever storage media you have chosen. When you release the right hand button, windows will ask you if you wish to "Copy" or "Move". You definitely want to "Copy". Do not "Move" the records. If you move the records, you have the job of moving them back to the SafeForge folder, in order to use the program.
Now repeat that process, copying the folder called "Othrecs" to the storage media drive.
That leaves just two files in a folder called "docs" that must be copied. In the right hand panel of Explorer, double-click your "docs" folder, and in the contents there you will find one file called "program.doc", and another called "trnmater.doc. Right click on these files and drag them to the left hand panel and drop them into the storage media drive.
This completes the Backup, although you may wish to create a duplicate, after you have finished the original backup, especially if you are using a floppy disk to make the backup.
