1.Nasty Keycode Trap!

2.Message about "Running Macros"

3.A trick to quickly copy Annual Refresher Training to all your Old Hands

4.Not Necessary to Break Down 8 hour State's Grants Training Sessions

5.Editing templates in the Bonesware version of Microsoft Excel

It's come to our attention, that it is very easy to mistake
an "Ohhhhh" for a "Zero" in the Keycodes that were issued
with SafeForge46 Safety Program. If There is one of these
deceptive digits in your keycode, try substituting the other
one, and it will work.

If you are running Windows 2000 or ME,  there may be a message that pops up regarding using "macros".  If this happens, just click to let macros run, that's a way automation is included in the templates, so it has to work that way. On 2000, there is an option that will eliminate this, by going to the Excel toolbar, clicking on "Tools"/ "Protection" and checking the lowest level of security there...

Here is a tip,,, for quickly filling out all the annual refresher records on the old hands' forms.

Begin by creating a record for each person who falls into that category. Just fill out the top header information and use the auto-save to file the record. On the first or last record, fill out the annual refresher training that all these men have had.  Then go back to the navigator page and click on Employee Records, and hold control as you left-click each miners record that should be filled out with the annual refresher training.

When you have selected all of these, right click on the list of men, and select "open" from the pop-up menu.  This will open all the records in Excel.  Minimize each of them, except the one that has the annual refresher training listed on it.

Then go to the top left box of the training information area, and left click on that, holding the mouse button down, as you sweep across the information to the right, and then down to the bottom right hand box where the training information stops.

Let go of the mouse button, and all of the training information will be highlighted,(appearing negative in color).   Right click in this area, and choose "Copy" from the pop-up menu.  Then Minimize that first miners' record and double-click the second miner from the pile of names at the bottom of the Excel Window.  When that record pops up,  go to that same "Top Left" single box, and simply right click that one box. When the popup menu comes up, choose "Paste" and when you click that, it will enter all the information into that record.

Then go up to the top toolbar, and click on "File/ Save"  and that will save that miners' record with the new information. As soon as it is saved, Click the "X" on that miners' record to send it back to the records folder, and go on to the next miners name in the pile at the bottom of the Excel Window.

Once you have done this 4 or 5 times,, it will be a very quick operation for you. And Its one of the beauties of  Excel, that instead of having to fill out each miners record individually, you can make them all reflect the identical training that 90% of your men have had.  In the case of a miner who did not receive a part of that training, simply go to the number line of that row of training info, and right click, then choose delete row,,, and that will remove that line.  Since most of your men usually fall into Annual Refresher Training, this one maneuver, will make your record keeping a much smaller task.

Many companies offer 8 hour annual refresher training in administered in one session, led by state'sgrants instructors. At the end of these 8 hour sessions, the certification is given to the company and to the miner, as a carbon-copy for proof of training. If your operation does their annual refresher training in this manner, it might be redundant to fill in the complete template line by line for this annual refresher, for each man.

We suggest that you simply type in a line referencing the location of the company's copies of these certificates, if you do not wish to fill in each template with this information. This line could include, the 8 hours of training as one entry, listing the instructor, and all other pertinent information as well. The balance of the template could show additional training that was administered during the year in whatever form it takes.

Step by S-Editing Templates

First you should make the template you wish to change
writable...

To do that, go to My Computer\C:\Program Files\SafeForge 46\templats
and right-click the template that you wish to edit, then click on "Properties" from
the drop-down menu.
From the properties menu, uncheck the "read only" box.
That will make the template writeable.

Next open the template you wish to change in Microsoft Excel, or in the SafeForge
Program, either way will work, it might be handier to do it directly in the program.

Go to the "Tools" menu at the top toolbar on Excel, click on "Unprotect sheet" on
the drop-down menu on Tools. (If you only want to add lines and not remove lines,
you can leave out this step, Its only necessary to "unprotect sheet" if you wish to
remove something that already exists in the coding.)

Make the changes you wish, deleting lines by right clicking the number of the line,
etc. Add new lines by using the Control/N function that we have written into the
program.

If you have unprotected the worksheet, or the workbook, now go back up to the
toolbar, once again left-click "Tools" choose "Protect sheet" or Protect Workbook"
from the drop-down menu, and when the protection box comes up, it will show
check boxes for "Content", "Objects", and "Scenarios".  You only want to have "Content"
checked, so uncheck "Objects" and "Scenarios".

Now you have finished editing, so go to the top Excel toolbar, and
click on "File" then choose save from the File menu, clicking on save will save the
template as you have edited it.

It is a good idea to go back now, and through My Computer\C:\Program Files\SafeForge 46
right click on the template name and once again choose "Properties" and make the template
"read only" by clicking that box. That will protect the template, as you have revised it.

As long as you follow this procedure step-by-step, you will have no problem, it is complicated,
but remember, you are deep inside the basic workings of Microsoft Excel when you are
changing the way the coding works,,, Congratulations!
